...but have a hard time using. I'm sure you have these things too. A few items you love seeing in a kit, but when it comes to using them you're stumped. In the 35 mm kit, for me, it was:
HEXAGONS:
To put this together I drew inspiration from this layout by KP and this layout by Tina Azsmus. I often use scraplifting as a tool when I don't know how to use a product. The yellow mist is the discontinued Lemonade Mister Huey's. I really love that shade. I used JBS Malted Milk ink on the changable alphas. After that they wouldn't stick, so I stapled them on.
WASHI AND BADGES:
I love washi but so many times have I added them to a layout and taken them off because I didn't like the look. Badges are also hard for me to use. I think it is the weight and bulk of them. For this layout I didn't do a lift but tried to channel Alison Waken :D
Enjoy the weekend!

Empowerment
I always enjoy the Creative Type challenges. The current one is about empowerment. You can find it here. It's about scrapping something that used to bother you, but no longer does. I chose to make a layout about my height. When I was younger being shortused to bother me. I would wear platforms to appear taller. After meeting my husband who's a full foot taller than me, I stopped. 4" heels did nothing to change the fact that I was tiny next to him. So I realized being petite is actually cute,. I'm happy to be short!
What will you scrap about?

Oatmeal cookies
I scrapped my favorite cookie recipe. It's short and easy and fit on the speech bubble. That "noted" stamp is already my most used stamp from a SC kit!
Recipe:
200 grams of butter
4 tbs of sugar
1 1/2 dl oatmeal
3 dl flour
Roll into golfball size balls and place on a cookie sheet. Flatten with a fork. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 175-200 degrees Celsius. (Google amounts and temperature to convert.)

35 mm
Finally my SC package arrived! It felt like forever this time. City of lights went into a coma a few days earlier. That happens to me after working with a kit for a long while. I can't call it killed because there are still lots of stuff in there I like, but I can't make anything more with it at the time.
It's funny how a new kit just jumpstarts my creativity! When I unpack the box I always put the shop items away. Then I lay the main and add-ons out on my table. I always keep the seperate kits apart. Only when the new kit arrives do I mix them up when putting everything in a crop bag to put it away.
This time I got add-ons 1 (Leica) and 3 (Holga). At this time I sometimes think to myself "And where do I start?". My solution is to put part of it away. Limiting the products I have to work with usually helps. I have a drawer in my desk that precisely fits 12x12 papers. That is where I keep the current kit.
I really loved Leica so that's what I kept up on my desk. I quickly put this together:
I finished it this morning:

RIP Mind the gap
Mind the gap was my second Studio Calico kit as a subber. It's also my second kit to kill. With my first SC birthday coming up next month and with only one kit killed so far, I was feeling a little stressful. I don't like my stash filling up! So I dug into Mind the gap one last time, and came up with this:
I lifted a layout by Marcy Penner titled "Winter" that you can see here. Tha badge is from the SC Take note collection. I used Mister Huey's in Dewey and Clay for the splatters. The journaling is on the cow card inside a glassine envelope that came with the City of lights kit.

Week in the life 2012
Week in the life 2012, a set on Flickr.
This is my Week in the life 2012. I kept it simple and reptitive to make sure I finished it. For me it's right away or not at all! I've made every day the same except for Sunday, when I had more story to tell.Every day has a front page and a baseball cards page protector that I cut down to size. Most of my supplies are from the SC kit City of Lights. I've also added a few things from my stash, like the Tim Holtz D-shape binding rings. I've stamped with Studio Calico's Weekdays stamp set and some wonderful Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards stamps, also a few various SC kit stamps. There are also a few SMASH items like envelopes and pockets in there.
I hope you enjoy my album and are able to find something inspiring in there!

Liked and linked
I had a comment on the NSD confetti layout on 2Peas that really made my day. Someone linked my gallery in the 2Peas scavenger hunt as "A Pea who's work you can't get enough of". So sweet! Thank you whoever you are. You made me very happy!

Happy NSD!
What a fun weekend! There are crops and challenges all over the place. And some great prizes too. I've started in on the Studio Calico challenges that can be found on their blog here. I plan on doing them all. I'll be adding my layouts to this post as I go, so please feel free to check back in the coming week.
Should these layouts coincide with the challenges at 2Peas I will post them there too. Their NSD page can be found here.
And the photo challenge:
Happy scrapping!
