VACATION MINI ALBUM

At the beginning of July we took a family trip to the Spanish Island of Mallorca. We had an absolutely wonderful time there. We are all hoping to go back some day.

Before we left I had already decided to put a mini album together about the trip, based on Jamaica Edgell's Explore mini album class over at Big Picture Classes.

I made a quick video of the album. Enjoy!

I really recommend Jamaica's class. It's a streamlined approach to make a mini album filled with many photos. It takes the belly-aching out of planning how to put it all together. She has presented two alternatives on how to sort your photos. You pick whichever suits your story the best. The tabs are a free download included in the class. I also purchased the digital papers by Lifelovepaper and the divider templates in the BPC digital section.

Editing the photos is what took me the longest. I used these vertical 4x6 photo templates by Paislee Press and also acouple of digital stamp brushes from Studio Calico. All photos are printed at home, which I know aren't the cheapest solution. I'm just too impatient to wait for a delivery once I have edited all the photos.

After printing the photos I printed out the free planner sheet to lay out the album before I put it together. It was the best help when gluing the pages together and punching the holes, making sure everything was in the right place.

I used just a few scrapbooking products to put it all together. The D-rings are Tim Holtz, and I've had them for years. The patterned papers and sheet of vellum are from The Underground scrapbook kit by Studio Calico. I picked bits and pieces from old PL kits to add just a few embellishments.

When making the covers I cut the top off an icecream carton and glued patterned paper on either side. There are also three memorabilia pockets spread through the album. The base is kraft cut to 9x7", and then cut and folded like this:
